Hi,
What a fascinating site. so many interesting and knowledgable item. I am on a night shift and came across it whilst looking at 2 stroke vs 4 stroke as powerplants. It has been like discovering a treasure chest. Thanks

Regarding the MAC of an elipse. "Alistare is in error ! , By definition. The MAC passes through the Centroid of the area. As shown the area inboard is smaller than the area out board of the shown sample. impossible!--- do your research again and you will find that the MAC is .424 x b/2 where the span is "b'

I've been out of the hobby for almost 20 years. Recently, my son has shown some interest in RC, so I went to the hobby shop to get a feel for what's current. What an eye opener! There wasn't a single kit on the shelf. Not one! Everything was either ARF or RTF. This was very disheartening because back when I was flying, if you didn't scratch build or build from a kit, you simply didn't own an airplane! I did some digging and found out that kits are still available, but to a much lesser extent. This is also very disheartening because I fear that sooner rather than later, there won't be kit's of any kind to buy. Building seems to be going extinct. What a shame. I was always proud of my planes because of the work that went into them. A big part of the hobby was showing up at the field and talking about everyone's new birds after a long cold winter. The craftsmanship was often outstanding and the discussions were always fun. Unfortunately, now it seems that building planes is almost a lost art. Sad to see. I could ramble on forever. Anyway, thanks for a great site. I stumbled in here on accident, but glad I found it. You've gone to great lengths and the information is outstanding.

An amazing site. I have been building and flying models for 62 years. From Freeflight to R/C, but have always insisted on balsa and spruce and glue and hard work. I don't do ARF, semi ARF, and Chinese junk! How much pride can there be in "opening a box, removing airplane, fly same.". Current projects include a return to FF with electric motor, FF models with R/C modifications and electric lift. Happy to share info/techniques/laughs via email with anyone. Dave

A very interesting and practical site. I am 67 and have been building model aircraft for most of that time. All types, but exclusively r/c for the last twenty years. So I thought I knew most of it, but have learnt quite a lot from your site. Your article on disorientation is excellent (I suffer from this sometimes), and your advice for someone just taking up the hobby is the best I have ever seen. Best wishes.
